FIFO REFRIGERATION MECHANIC

THE ROLE

Working for Platinum Electricians & Reporting to the Office Manager in Darwin, the position is full time based at the Groote office at Pole 13 with accommodation provided in Alyangula.
We are looking for an experienced Refrigeration Mechanic to work with the client staff and community in delivery of our operations. This is a FIFO position based In Groote Eyland on an 18-days-on/10-days-off roster.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Ensure relevant building plans, project documents and site instructions are understood before commencing work
  • At all times carry out assigned work in a timely, professional, and proficient manner
  • Commercial installation and service experience
  • Excellent mechanical & electrical diagnostic and fault-finding skills.
  • Experience in diagnosing and repairing of Cool rooms, Freezer rooms, Fridges, Ice machines, Glycol systems, and more.
  • Experience in diagnosing packaged Air-conditioning, split ducted, cassette, and split systems.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with clients and maintain relationships
  • Ability to work independently and efficiently manage workflow
  • Work well in a team and assist with the development of younger technicians.
  • Is resourceful and can resolve issues in a calm and timely fashion

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

  • Trade qualification in Refrigeration
  • Minimum 4 years relevant work history and experience as a Refrigeration Mechanic in Australia
  • Current Drivers Licence (or equivalent)
  • Applicants must be able to pass a full Job-fit medical, including Drug and Alcohol testing.

  • Competitive hourly rates of $45- $50 depending on your experience
  • Three-week shutdown over Christmas (partially paid)
  • Flexibility within roster with 5 weeks Annual Leave.
